FG OPENS THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE, SPENDS N1.055 BILLION

Federal Government yesterday reopened the Third Mainland Bridge for vehicular traffic  about ten days ahead of schedule.   Repair works on the bridge in the past 16 weeks  gulped a total of N1,055 billion.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Works,  Architect Mike Onolememen said apart from the fact that the work was completed ahead of time the project was executed with a total sum of N1,055,477,608.16 and  that repair work on the eight expansion joints in the bridge had further strengthened the structural integrity of the bridge.He commended President Goodluck Jonathan and the Lagos state Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola for making sure that the work went on without  any hindrance adding that the Federal Government would continue to carryout out routine maintenance of bridges across the country and that construction work on the Lagos –Ibadan Expressway would begin before the end of the year.
