LASTMA ARRAIGNS FAKE TRAFFIC OFFICERS


The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) on Wednesday arraigned two fake traffic officers at the Ikeja Magistrate Court 1 for parading themselves as traffic enforcement agents. Thirty-seven year old Lagos born Bolaji Adigun and Akeem Adebeshin, 42 who hails from Ogun State were arrested at Mile 12, a suburb of Lagos State while carrying out the illegal act.
The offenders who appeared before Magistrate Olufemi Isaac were charged on a four-count charge which include impersonation, falsely presenting  themselves as Traffic Inspectors under LASTMA, fraudulently using  forged traffic tickets and illegal demand and collection of money from motorists were granted bail with two sureties to the tune of N200,000 each. Each of the sureties were required to produce evidence of three years tax payment, proof of legal means of livelihood, residence in Lagos and twenty thousand (N 20,000) deposited in Lagos State Government account.
