Motion Pictures Practitioners in Nigeria have resolved to celebrate Nollywood which clocked twenty in September 2012.The celebration which is expected to get closer to Festac 77 show is scheduled for July next year.
To ensure that the event is a huge success, practitioners earlier this week gathered in Surulere for formal presentation of the programme to head of guilds for assessment and approval in preparation for the event.Stakeholders expressed satisfaction with the programme and called for mobilization of all the artistes in Nigeria for the great event. They condemned the recent attempts of Nollywood practitioners to fragment the industry by forming rival guilds and called for unity in Nollywood and transparency in the management of the celebration of Nollywood at 20.
The event will commence with world press conference, raffle draws, mini documentaries on the icons of Nollywood, special coaching clinics, inauguration of Nollywood Endowment Fund, Nollywood House Appeal Fund, Hall of Fame, Commemorative Award Ceremony, Special Screenings of Classic Movies, a Night of Stars and Veterans Celebration, Nigeria Film Festival, VIP Novelty Matches and a special service in Church and Mosque. Besides, there will be anniversary film, social works, endowment of Excellence Awards and gala night. In the gathering were Andy Amenechi, President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, Zik Zulu Okafor, President, Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Iyen Agbonifo, President, Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN), Greg Odutayo, President, National Association of Nigerian Theatre Artistes (NANTAP) Faith Eboigbe, Chairman, NANTAP, Lagos state and Osezua Stephen-Imobhio Osazuwa, President, Independent Television Producers Association of Nigeria (ITPAN).
