THE NIGERIAN FILM INDUSTRY better known as Nollywood contributes not less than 522 billion Naira about 2.75 billion Dollars to the local Gross Domestic Product.Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Prince Gboyega Salvador-Adebayo made the revelation while speaking at a film forum in Lagos. When fully harnessed, the industry he said will outstrip petroleum as major revenue earner for the country.

He explained that the establishment of Motion Picture Council of Nigeria (MOPCON), National Film Development Fund (NFDF) National Film Village Development Fund (NFVDF) and a review of the National Film Policy (NFP) will go a long way to assist in the development of the film sector.

He said the industry has generated over one million jobs for scriptwriters, producers, directors, cameramen, recording technicians,  lighting engineers, film editors, marketers, accountants, distributors and exhibitors aside from the numerous actors and actresses that make up the cast.
