“BOI and NEXIM bank brought out guidelines to access this fund. But there is a problem, the guidelines they brought out no producer, distributor or marketers can meet those guidelines but those of us, few of us who have been in the formal business sector of the industry who have been playing the leadership role came out and said we can assess that money and I am the first to have accessed that money”.
Mr. Gab Okoye, better known as Gabosky is not a novice when it comes to movie production. He came in at a time when major filmmakers were making films with small budget and decided to raise the standard making Nneka the Pretty Servant with a rare budget of N10 million and Battle of Musanga with a budget of N20 million. He made other films and opted to stay aside due to piracy and marketing problems. As President Motion Pictures Distributors of Nigeria (MOPIDN), Gabosky is stepping in to correct the problem of distribution which he said has rendered the business of film production almost comatose. He told Starconnect Media that he has been able to access N1.8 billion from President Goodluck Jonathan’s Film Intervention Fund(FIF) domiciled at the Bank of Industry (BOI) and hopes to use the money to create distribution structures across the nation.
