Notwithstanding the well paved modern road, the powerful stench emanating from the overflowing gutter at Ebute-Ero, while turning off from Apongbon Bridge, Lagos, Nigeria is now an eye-saw to commuters and motorists passing through the area enroute Ebute-Ero Market.

The problem appears to have been compounded by unused pipes of various sizes deposited by unknown contractors on the right side of the road and water channels blocked by accumulated waste generated within the area, thus emptying the whole content of water linking the Lagos Lagoon into the surrounding road. This massive water which has been there right from the rainy until this moment has in a way put commuters on the watch out for coming vehicles who have in most cases emptied the greenish overflow into unsuspecting passerby.

Speaking to Starconnect Media on the development, Muyiwa, one of those running car parking outfit under the bridge called on the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola to as a matter of urgency direct relevant ministries to save residents of the Island from constant embarrassment by what now appear to be a permanent  flood even in the dry season.

“This place is a mess; please help us to appeal to the Lagos state government to do something. You see how we run across the road each time we pass here to prevent vehicles from splashing this foul-smelling water on us, and beside this is not what should be condoned in a city such as Lagos ”, he said.
