Lagos State Government yesterday displayed some of the motorbikes it has approved for use within the Lagos metropolis. It also displayed a specimen of one of the motorbikes(fake) bought by many which falls below what is approved by the state. The motorbikes were paraded in Alausa at a forum to address companies in the state that make use of dispatch riders.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Transportation, Comrade Kayode Opeifa said the exhibition of the motorbikes becomes necessary following reports that some motorbikes purchased by organisations in the wake of recent restriction on commercial bike operations in the state were not up to the 200 CC capacity approved by government.
He said both officials of the state government and the private organisations have made mistake, leading to contravention which he said needed to be corrected. He called on those yet to buy motorbikes to exercise caution at point of purchase, adding that the bikes that come with capacity embossed on the frame may not be up to the capacity and called on those buying to look out for the capacity that is moulded on the machine to avoid making mistake.
