BY NOW YOU MAY BE WONDERING WHY THE STREETS are suddenly red, with most couples you may have come across putting on red. Well, it is because today is Valentine or better still, Lovers Day.
So, what do you think? I don’t celebrate Valentine because I believe that Love is sharing and it should be an everyday thing, done spontaneously. That is by the way. Today is so called valentine because it is set aside as a day for lovers to confirm their love for each other through special gifts or otherwise.
If you care about the origin, the day is named after the feast day of two different Christians killed for their belief in Christianity. But what about the custom connected with it? The World Book Encyclopaedia says it is connected with a Roman festival called LUPERCALIA, which took place every February 15 to honour Juno, the Roman goddess of women and marriage.
