Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) has condoled with Nigerians over the death of multi talented singer, Susan Oluwabimpe Filani, popularly known as Goldie Harvey.
The artiste who was reported dead on Thursday February 14 at about 7:30 pm at Reddington Hospital, Victoria Island, Lagos, was said to have complained about severe headache shortly after arriving from Los Angeles in the United States of America where she had attended last Sunday’s Grammy Award ceremonies.
Speaking on the shocking incident, COSON General Manager, Mr. Chinedu Chukwuji said the news is a sad one for the country. He said “Goldie is a very talented star whose exceptional talent is visible in her art. It is indeed shocking and very sad to have such a vibrant young lady gone at the prime of her life. At COSON, we are deeply saddened and still trying to recover from the news. She is one of our own and we pray that God will give her family, friends, Kennis Music and indeed Nigerians, the fortitude to bear this great loss. It is very sad indeed”
In his reaction, COSON Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji expressed shock at the demise of the former BBA housemate. According to him, her wonderful performance at the last Nigerian Music Video Awards was indeed commendable and exceptional. “I am shattered by the terrible news of the sudden passing on of a young Nigerian woman working so hard to make a mark in a very difficult field. Last time I saw Goldie was at the NMVA where she put up a show to remember. I said to myself: The world will hear from this Nigerian girl. Now, this?” he said on his facebook post.
A native of Ekiti State, Goldie as she is popularly called is renowned for her style of eclectic music which is a fusion of Afro pop and Hip Hop; a style that has given her international recognition since she busted on the music scene. Her newly released singles “Skibo”. “Miliki” and Got To Have It,” are presently enjoying massive airplay.
