Ansaru, an Islamic sect also known as Jamaatul Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladin sudan, affiliated to Boko Haram and Al-qaida has claimed responsibility for the kidnap of seven foreigners at a construction site in Bauchi State, Northern, Nigeria. The foreigners include four Lebanese, one Briton, a Greek citizen and an Italian.
Jamaatul Ansarul Muslimina fi Biladin Sudan, translated as, “The group that dedicates itself to helping Muslims in Africa”, claimed it abducted the foreigners who were working with Setraco, a Lebanese-owned construction company in Nigeria as a form of revenge for alleged atrocities committed against the religion of Allah by Europeans in Afghanistan and Mali among other nations.
Reports monitored on Aljazeera affirmed that governments of Greece and Italy have confirmed that their citizens were among those taken hostage. “Beirut has acknowledged that two Lebanese nationals were seized, but has not matched the police figure of four”, the report said.
