Security has been beefed up around public buildings in Lagos  State Government as government assures residents  not to panic and that it has put in place adequate security to protect lives and properties in Lagos.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Remi Ibirogba made the remarks during the monthly environmental sanitation following a Lagos -based a publication that the radical Islamic sect Boko Haram and its breakaway faction, Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis-Sudan also called Ansaru are planning to establish cells in the Lagos, Ibadan, Abeokuta and Oshogbo among other states, plant Improvised Explosive Devices(IEDs) in public buildings so as to bring economic activities in the area and Nigeria in general to comatose.

“I want to say categorically that Lagos is free, Lagosians should not entertain any fear since we have done everything within our power to ensure safety of lives and properties.  But I don’t think anybody in his right frame of mind will want to extend violence to Lagos since everybody has economic interest in Lagos. Nothing like that will happen here. We are a peaceful state, please go about your normal business, he urged residents of the state.

On the monthly environmental sanitation, the commissioner said residents of the state have been up and doing, adding that the state government will continue to carry out public enlightenment to encourage the spirit of cleanliness in the people where government is not satisfied, noting that a clean environment will allow resident so save money and used them in other areas instead of spending the money on illness which results from an unkempt environment.
