Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola yesterday said the economy of the state is now rated ahead of countries like Ghana and the United Kingdom.
Though Fashola who spoke after a tour of projects in Victoria Island and Lekki did not provide details of the rating agency, he however said that the economy of Lagos State remains the yardstick for measuring good governance.
“Presently the Lagos State economy is being upgraded from stable to positive, that’s good governance, you don’t need any campaign to do that”, he said adding that he is convinced that Nigeria can offer a lot better than what it is offering at present.
“Currently we are executing about 1,966 projects across the state and I don’t think that we have been to 300. So all the projects we have visited really are the ones that have problems. Those are the projects we have been going to see what the problems are instead of just reading reports. We come to have a feel of it and see whose ministry is responsible and what we can do to ensure that the ministries and contractors are communicating. Sometimes there are local issues, people go to court, but we have come out here to ensure that we get as many of those projects completed”, he said.
