ORGANISERS OF THE African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) have released names of nominees, from which eventual winners of the ninth edition will be selected. Scheduled for April 25, 2013 in Bayelsa, the nominees were announced last Friday at ceremony hosted by Her Excellency President Joyce Banda in Lilongwe Malawi.
The organisers have said that entries came in from America, Canada, France, Germany, Guadalupe, Italy, Jamaica, and the UK. A total of 328 entries were received from across Africa, up from 220 in 2011. There were 134 entries for feature films, 88 for short films, 57 for documentaries and six animations. A total of 671 films were submitted for consideration. The awards are films produced in the year 2012. See New Films/Music for full list.
