NIGERIANS are finding it difficult to come to terms with the luxury gifts that governors and Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have continued to shower on the R & B crooner, Tuface Idibia and his lovely wife, Annie as wedding presents.
Just yesterday, Saturday in at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, a five star resort in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the musician who has fathered three kids for three different women was allegedly honoured by the Senate President, Senator David Mark with 2012 Ferari Car worth about N47 million. Tuface and the Senate President are from Benue State, while Governor of the state Gabriel Suswan was also said to have donated the sum of N10 million to the millionaire couple.
Far away in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, on March 8, 2013, Governor Godswill Akpabio donated two Toyota Prado SUVs as gift to the couple and offered to sponsor 20 relatives of bride to Dubai to attend their white wedding. Akpabio and Annie are from the same state. The SUVs were presented to the couple by Commissioner for Information, Mr. Aniekan Umanah. Tuface proposed to Annie on Valentine’s Day in 2012 and legalised the union secretly in a Lagos registry on May 1, 2012. We gathered that guests were taken on a 45-minute ride on a luxury boat to the exotic beach for the reception.
In attendance were Sound Sultan, Don Jazzy, Cecil Hammond, Rita Dominic, Ubi Franklin, Dr. SID, Eldee ‘The Don,’ Davido, Banky W, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, Ini Edo, Susan Peters, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Uti Nwachukwu, Alex Ekubo, Tunde Ednut, Jim Iyke, Mike Ezuruonye and DJ Tee among others.
Meanwhile the luxury gifts have sparked some criticism among Nigerians with some saying that both governors and the Senate President would have done Nigerians proud if they have converted the gifts into cash and distributed to the less privileged and millions of jobless Nigerians in the society. What do you think.
