President Edo Youth Congress, Mr. Adebamen Eichie has called on the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to cancel Saturday’s Local Government elections in the state, noting that the elections were fraught with irregularities.

Eichie who was an accredited election observer called on the governor to apologise to the people of Edo State for presiding over what he called the worst election in the history of the state adding that the governor should in addition set aside a date for fresh poll to elect true representatives of the people.

Eichie who spoke on Channels Television said the youths of Edo State are angry about the outcome of the election, stressing that in a few days time he will lead the youths out to protest against what he described as injustice in the election process.

He said it is sad for Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) to go ahead to announce results for an election he knows were not only fraught with irregularities but never held in some local governments.

He alleged that in some of the wards, card carrying members of the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) where used as electoral officers adding that a van belonging to the deputy governor of the state was used to convey election materials to polling centres.

He called on Chairman of EDSIEC to step down for failing to conduct acceptable election in the local governments adding that there was public outcry in each of the local governments where elections took place. He called on INEC to take over local government elections in Nigeria.
