Bamanga Tukur, Chairman Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)

The National Youth Vanguard of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party for developing a highly interactive social media platforms aimed at inculcating the spirit of patriotism in Nigerian youths.

A statement signed by Coordinator of the group Hon. Beke Apere and Secretary, Ambassador Ibrahim Bala Aboki said the group has been following activities of the party in carrying the youths along on its facebook and twitter accounts.

“Of particular note however, is the on-going PDP Patriot Search Promo.  In this promo, the PDP as a party built on the principle of social justice and patriotism, is asking Nigerians to help search for the most patriotic Nigerian, whose selflessness inspired many Nigerians since independence and why. The promo also stated that the person with the highest number of “likes” on his or her nomination will have a dinner with a PDP Governor or Minister of his or her choice. This promo ends at 6:00pm on Saturday,15th May 2013”,  the statement said adding that the promo will help engage citizens positively and serve as a platform to enable Nigerians directly and give genuine recognition to deserving citizens.

“It will also serve as a catalyst for greater service to our dear fatherland. We have observed that since the promo started about two weeks ago, Nigerians have continued to nominate and vote for notable citizens who have made selfless services to the nation. The nominations and votes have also continued to cut across religious, tribal and political divides”, the statement said, adding that notable figures such as late Prof. Chinua Achebe, former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, frontline preacher and General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; General Theophilus Danjuma, former information minister, Prof. Dora Akunyili, first Nigerian President, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe among others have been nominated and voting has been robust with exciting comments by Nigerians.
