PDP’S ABDUKAREEM WINS ADAMAWA BYE ELECTIONS

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has declared Mr. Umar Sobiyami Abdulkareem of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as winner of the bye elections held in Nasarawo/Binyeri Constituency, Adamawa State at the weekend.

He polled 12,040 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr. Umar Kaigama of KOWA Party who scored 7, 840 votes.  Mr. Mathias Yohanna of the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), came third with 1, 626 votes.  Mr. Ibrahim Umar Wayere of the Congress for Progressive Change(CPC) scored 159 votes while Gershon Kasuwa of the All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) scored 34 votes.

According to the scorecard issued by  INEC, there were 46,803 registered voters in the constituency, while 23,381 voters were accredited for the election. INEC said that a total number of 22,444 votes were cast with valid votes standing at 21,699. It added that 745 votes were rejected.
